Studio Classes

Studio Classes are open for registration.

We create artists.

Artists create art.

Art changes the world.

Become the artist, change the world.

Welcome! At The Actors Conservatory we believe theatre is what reminds us how to be human and a strong training program lets us practice being human together.

Acting is as complicated as life itself: as nuanced, as textured, and as true to the live human experience as we can manage, no matter the style. It is a calling. During our two year Conservatory Program, we encourage students to think for themselves, trust their instincts, invest in their imaginations and creativity, which leads to the creation of a full and nuanced life on stage.

It is our job, through our TAC educators, to provide comprehensive and rigorous actor training by engaging the mind, heart and spirit of the artist while cultivating a culture to inspire our students to make a lifelong commitment to the living arts.

Auditions

We are continually holding interviews and auditions for our Two Year Conservatory program.

As performance opportunities present themselves, an actor wants to be as prepared as possible to walk through that door. The Actors Conservatory’s two-year program will bring out the very best you have to offer.

Equity and Inclusion Values Statement

July 1, 2022

Theatre is one of our culture’s most ancient and foundational art forms because of its unique ability to hold a mirror up to humanity and engage audiences in an intimate and personal way. As our society undertakes a widespread collective reckoning on social justice, we are looking back at how far we’ve come while honestly confronting how far we have to go. We believe that the arts deserve a place at the forefront of that conversation – both to address our industry’s own systemic inequities, and because we believe in the power of theatre as a force for social change.

As a community of theatre educators and practitioners and a flagship institution of Portland’s performing arts community since 1985, The Actors Conservatory is committed to living our equity commitment from the office to the classroom to the stage. As a training ground for emerging artists, our mission is to develop future generations of actors, in Portland and beyond, who truly represent the diverse world we live in. Our equity and inclusion values are essential as an active, daily practice on every level of our recruitment, hiring, staffing, teaching, and production. We are committed as individuals and as an organization to being lifelong learners in this work, and to sharing our experiences, actions and best practices with others in our field.

The Actors Conservatory is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). When you enroll in a NAST-accredited program you are assured that your tuition is an investment that meets nationally academic, financial and administrative standards. By attending a nationally accredited institution eligible students may receive federal financial aid funds including grants, student loans and work study.
